Our Meme

My Meme died today at 94 years old! She is finally at peace, yet none of us are. She is and always has been unforgettable.  She was tough yet so loving, feisty as a firecracker yet warm and gentle. She had a love for college basketball, bowling and late night Yahtzee. I remember visiting her home when I was little and she always had this amazing candy drawer that was stocked with the best of things we were never allowed to eat at home. She believed in sitting down at the dinner table together as a family at the same time every night. She made the BEST home cooked dinners, and her Reese's Pieces Peanut Butter Pie was my favorite, and she knew it.
She loved to debate, especially religion, and she would always take us to church with her when we were in town for a visit. She was tiny, but her spirit made up for that. She was married to the love of her life for more than 50 years. She adored her family and I was just so completely blessed that Maddie was able to meet her great, great grandmother. Not many can say that. There was this magical little spark between the two of them when they were together and I regret not being able to see her more than we did. I know that her heart can rest now, and that she's running on the energetic legs of a child, and who knows, bowling her best game yet on those golden ally's.
I love you Meme.
